Crazy weather!

Here in Indiana, we have been having a rather mild winter (not that I'm complaining). Last week, we had gotten snow that wound up cancelling schools in the area, and now today it is 53 out, very gusty, but it's to turn colder this afternoon and tomorrow's high is to be only in the 20's! This morning, I was woken up to it lightening and thundering and just pouring down rain. Normally I like rain, I find it very soothing, but in the new house since we had septic work done, the rain turns the backyard into a huge mud pit, which equals to some very muddy dogs! I'm so thankful that the backdoor leads to the laundry room where I have a laundry tub that has a sprayer nozzle on it so I'm able to put a dog in the tub and get them washed down before allowing them to roam through the rest of the house. Ellie Mae

That is Ellie Mae. She is a blue gotti pitbull. We have had her since she was 5 days old. She is the most loving and yet protective dog. She is 6 months old, and is the worst at getting into the mud! lol Before too long I won't be able to lift her into the tub, :)

We are in our "new" house now, we moved in sometime in November. I absolutely love it! We still have the upstairs to complete and in time we will get it done. I'm so looking forward to spring so we can landscape the yard and get the garden going, and getting the clothes line up...I love hanging some clothes outside! There are some things that I don't hang outside, but the main things that I do hang out are jeans and bedding.

We still have our other house in town, and I think we already have somebody wanting to buy it on contract.

Wow, it's been almost a month since I last posted! We have been working on the other house as time permits.

At last post I talked about "the jungle" (the bushes at the front of the house). My husband decided he would simply trim them in hopes they would shape up and look good...well...it didn't work...however as he was trimming, our youngest son and myself were helping to clear the debris away and ended up getting poison ivy. Both he and I went to the doctors to get on steroids because it way out of control...I hate poison ivy! I was doing well with it until it started growing up my nose and that's when I called it quits. What happened to the bushes you ask? Well, my husband took the chain saw to them and now they don't exist, YEAH!! However, 2 weeks after that, we found more poison ivy in the yard, UGH! Husband pulled it out and I was being so careful to not touch it, but as luck would have it when I went to do his laundry, not thinking of the oils being on his clothes, I got it again. This time it was very manageable, I think maybe because I still had some of the steroids left in my system. Did I mention that I hate poison ivy?

Last night we went to Menards and got almost all of our flooring (carpet and linoleum). We still have yet to get the living room carpet but for now we will get the other rooms done. Menards was/are having a Fourth of July sale going, an extra 22% percent off the remnant prices so we found remnants for 3 rooms. Love saving money!

I cannot wait to get this house done and move in. I'm looking forward to the quietness of the country, to having a big garden next year, to possibly having chickens (though I'm scared of birds, I look forward to having fresh eggs).

Hello! I have been absent for such a long time from my blog that I have wiped everything off and have decided to start over.

So you ask: what's new? Well, let's start with an introduction first to anyone who might be new or have somehow found their way here..ok? Ok. I'm Beth, I'm 40 (sigh..lol)...I'm a stay at home Mom, I have 4 children, all boys! The oldest is 21 and he has an adorable 2 year old son of whom I'm "Oma" to, then we have a 20 year old who doesn't live at home any longer-he's a big boy now, followed by our 17 year old and lastly is our 16 year old. I'm happily married to Bob, who is 44. We have 2 dogs, Xander and Wilson, a grouchy cat named Muffin and a guinea pig, actually the guinea pig isn't mine, she belongs to the 17 year old.

We are currently fixing up a house that we recently purchased in hopes of moving into it and then selling the current home we are living in. The home we bought we actually had won through a HUD bid several years ago but due to the mortgage company dinky-donking around our bid fell thru, the gentleman who did then buy it ripped out all the kitchen cabinets, countertops and ripped all the carpet out of the house, plus some walls! Fast forward not quite a year and he passed away unexpectedly. His son ended up getting the house and his plan was to fix it up and move he and his family into it, well...fast forward...he was as truck driver who got into an accident and lost his job...he has since gotten a part-time job but they live an hour away so the drive wasn't affordable plus they couldn't find the funds to fix the house up. About a year ago he tried selling it as a "for sale by owner", we called about it and he said how much he was wanting and we decided that it was too much as with all the repairs it needed. So now we're at the present year and I was looking on Craigslist and typed in the towns name where we live at and I saw somebody had posted a house for sale...sounded very familiar, address was listed so I checked the address and sure enough, it was the same house, only now he really lowered it. I wrote to the owner to inquire of the repairs, in hopes he done some of them..nope, nothing more had been done, he asked if we were interested in the home and I responded yes but explained how we already have a home and the most I could offer him was $9000 less than he was wanting for it. We really expected him to say there was no way he could that low, but he surprised us and said "you've got it"...so just like that, we bought it! I need to take pictures of our progress and get them posted.

For now, I need to end this post and get to working on laundry. Our 21 year old is in town for a few days and brought me his laundry...ALL of his laundry! Oiy!
